Purpose
Traps, mistakes, issues, sins, and evil are all related to the real life part of the world -- finances. We are tempted or even become enslaved by money, possessions, assets, liabilities, debt, needs, and wants, which in turn reveals greed or hate of money. Truth and wisdom have been used or twisted for gain, and sometimes what people claim as truthful or wise are not. None of that is right or helpful, and it typically hurt others -- directly or indirectly. So instead of continually falling into the same life patterns, we fight to learn and train in what is truthful and loving for sound and wise living.
Therefore, we train people in truth and love where people learn to live with a telos centered heart that stewards finances. We want people to mature over time to live wisely and counsel others wisely, especially how finances relate to life. We want people to have the heart that fights, learns, and trains others in what they have been trained in, creating an exponential network of relationships built with truth and love. Imagine a generation of people like parents, grandparents, pastors, and singles wisely counseling and truthfully caring for others. Imagine economy, businesses, and neighborhoods affected by these hearts and lives. Imagine a people living by what is true and loving!
The greatest issue with finances will be -- what is your telos? Rather, who is your telos? Determining that will truly guide your life and financial stewardship. Ultimately your telos will either be God or something else, which will determine and define what is truthful, loving, and worthy to live for. We then will either live by saying and influence of 'money talks' or 'God talks'.
Training
We train people in and through real relationships, especially among Telos Church(es), while also providing unique periods of time, resources to guide and strengthen these relationships, and specifically identity contemporary life issues with our Telos Financial Training classes. We have various class curriculum options, and currently use the Financial Peace University (FPU) curriculum by Dave Ramsey. There are various reasons for using FPU, but one in particular is ensuring their are instructions and resources for real life living and training others that can be used as tools to the biblical, spiritual, and God created natural principles of life we already cover before or caveat during the classes. FPU has been by far the most helpful curriculum that talks about money, debt, bankruptcy, economy, national influences, insurance, investment options (good and bad), strategies, house purchase and mortgages, and much more.
